Our Seniors Still NEED Us. And We Still Need You!
What a challenging year it has been for everyone – especially our vulnerable seniors. COVID-19 disrupted what was previously guaranteed in all of our lives and in the lives of our community’s seniors. The pandemic compounded our clients’ daily struggles and jeopardized our mission to reach isolated and food-insecure seniors. Yet, with the help of our heroic volunteers, generous donors, and dedicated staff we overcame obstacles and found silver linings along the way. It refined our organization’s ability to pivot, safely and quickly. It opened the door for new senior services like our Grocery Shopping Assistance program, and it raised a new level of engagement from our Board of Directors, donors and supporters. Senior Resource Association is grateful for each and every person who has helped us and our seniors get through an extremely challenging year.
However, our seniors still need us. And we still need you! In order to continue serving vulnerable seniors and caregivers, we your immediate support. Our programs experienced unprecedented demands this year, nearly doubling the number of seniors in need.
- By August, Meals on Wheels deliveries increased to 16,000 meals per month – a 115% increase since this time last year. Funds are needed to continue meeting the demand.
- By December 30th, CARES Act dollars will be depleted and 50+ seniors are at risk of losing their daily meal and wellness check. An additional 100 seniors are on our Waitlist.
- At the onset of COVID-19, our DayAway centers were temporarily closed. We re-opened with limited capacity per CDC guidelines and offered In-Home Services to DayAway clients as a safe alternative. There are 450+ clients on our Respite Care Waitlist who cannot be served until more funding is available.
We are grateful for all donations, and all funds go directly to serving seniors and their caregivers. Thank you for giving generously, allowing Senior Resource Association to continue feeding and caring for those most affected by the pandemic.
